Song for Friday...it's all in the hips!

O.K, since Valentines Day is on the horizon I thought I would post this groovy love song.
Just check out the moves Tom Jones has!
Must have been censored by some stations somewhere!
And I dare you...try doing these moves yourself...
Just don't hurt yourself!
Have a swingin' weekend all!

The eyes have it....

One of the processes of creating is finding something new to add to an already existing idea.
For me these are my  "Aha" moments.
That's how I feel when I come across a tool or a material that takes my pieces to another level.
My latest discovery....
Glass eyes!
I now own an old bottle full of assorted sizes and colours.
They are really fabulous and have given me a new found excitement on what to create to fit the eyes...
Some will fit perfectly into a sculpture already made, whereas some will just have to be trial and error.
The eyes may dictate what I will make, or at least the size of it.
That's the surprise of buying some things online.
Until you've seen them, ( no pun intended!) it's hard to know exactly how they will fit a piece.
Some will be too small...
Or too big...
Or just too goofy looking...
But then you find some that are.....
Just right!
Coming soon to an etsy shop near you!

Beach day...

Today, I went to visit Norene.
I live in Sooke and she lives in East Sooke.
From the sea shore, we could probably yell across to each other,
but to drive to one another's house it takes about half and hour.
It's because there lies a big basin of water between the two areas
and no one has been successful in providing a water taxi/ferry service.
Anyway, on Norene's 'side' there's a great little beach on the wild east coast
We were lucky to have a half decent day, feeling a bit of spring in the air...
But mostly we went down to look for treasure...
...the beach glass kind!
This little cove is full of tiny, well worn pieces of glass...
It's the kind of place where you can sit for ages, running your hands through the smooth pebbles,
turning the soft gravel, uncovering the jewels brought by the waves...
People all around the world collect such glass and turn it into all kinds of lovely works of art, including Norene's mosaic work...
...and in the meantime we gab and gab and Griffin swims and swims...
It's the kind of day that breeds ideas and projects for the future.
It's good for the soul.

Special guest...

Our friend Steve has gone down to live in Belize for a few months.
Rough.
He is an incredible photographer and has been sending a few pictures.
I thought today, I would invite him as my special guest because I wanted to share a few of his
amazing bird photos.
I can just about hear the waves lapping at the shore and a warm wind rustling the palms...
Now I am adding 'Bird watching in Belize' to my bucket list.
Cheers Steve!
